30365 Days of LSDoatmeal

This morning I embarked on a year long project: To consume one meal of oatmeal per day, maximizing variation, for a full year. This project should be particularly challenging considering that, though I'm conceptually into oatmeal, I've my psychological aversion to these particular forms of porridge. Today I discovered, however, that steel-cut oats go down much easier than rolled oats (though, rest assured reader, I intend to vary my oats). Anyways, if you guys have any recipe suggestions for either sweet or savory oatmeal dishes, please leave them in the comments.

I'll be attempting to document each recipe with a single photo posted to my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24999673@N07/

i use pumpkin puree and then i add cinnamon and splenda (brown sugar would probably be better), but cooked and cubed is an interesting idea.

I tend to eat the same thing every time:

oatmeal with a pad of butter, cinnamon, and honey (darker honey is better)

If you like the chewiness of steel cut, then I think you're well against the grain of many oatmeal lovers. But for some variation, you could vary cooking times. Sometimes I like to start with way too much water and simmer for like an hour or longer. It becomes very creamy as the starches develop.

the only two ways i eat oatmeal are: with sugar, cinammon, raisins and milk or out of a package with dried apples in it. you're crazy with your year of oatmeal project! :)
